SEDATION DENTISTRY - WE ARE HERE TO HELP!
As part of our commitment to our patients, we are proud to offer a range of sedation dentistry services. These services are designed to help patients with dental anxiety and phobias receive the treatments they need and deserve.
The doctors and team at Mountain Dental are committed to providing patients of all ages with gentle, thorough dental care. Through the years, our practice has grown, but we’ve never lost sight of what’s important: providing our patients with the treatments they need and deserve. Helping you and your family achieve healthy smiles is our number one goal.
Comfortable & Gentle Dental Care
Our dental practices in Lander and Dubois, WY offer a range of general and cosmetic dental services including: routine cleanings and exams, implant dentistry dentures and partials, extractions, root canals, and more. Our staff and doctors will get to know your needs and desire for you smile.
Nitrous Oxide / Laughing Gas
Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is the most common form of sedation dentistry used. It is safe and effective for both children and adults. This type of sedation is administered by placing a small mask over the patient’s nose. The gas calms the patient, but they remain awake and can still communicate with the doctor or staff. This treatment is ideal for patients receiving shorter, routine procedures.
Oral Conscious Sedation
One of the easiest methods of receiving dental treatment is through the application of Oral Conscious Sedation. This effective method of dental sedation has been safely utilized throughout the country for the last 25 years by an organization called DOCS (Doctors of Oral Conscious Sedation). Both Doctors here at Mountain Dental PC and our monitoring staff have received over 30 hours of education and training from this organization.
Oral Conscious Sedation is not “Sleep Dentistry.” Under Oral Conscious Sedation, the patient is totally relaxed and freed from anxiety and fear. However, in order for us to do high-quality and detailed dentistry, we need to have a patient who is awake and responsive to our needs. Active patient participation allows us to make sure the anesthetic is working well, check the details of a dental procedure like bite and fit, and perform several procedures that cannot be done while someone is asleep.
A safe experience is mandatory for treatment at our office. Several conditions make OCS difficult or impossible to accomplish. These are: uncontrolled hypertension, asthma, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, heart disease (heart attack, unstable angina), vascular disease, compromised airway reflexes, compromised liver function, obstructive sleep apnea, psychosis, concurrent alcohol intake, obesity, and COPD.
